Brahmacharini mata is another form of Goddess Durga and she is worshipped on the Navaratri second day. This goddess is the unmarried form born at the Daksha Prajapati’s home.
Brahmacharini is radiant and majestic. She appears to be absorbed in meditation and is silent. She is the Goddess symbol performing Penance as Brahma and charini refers to being devotee or female follower.
Goddess Brahmacharini is in white clothes, holding a japa mala that is a rosary in her right hand and a water utensil known as kamandal in her left hand. It is believed that she resides on earth during Navaratri and people worshipping her with devotion, will be blessed with wisdom, success and knowledge.
